Overview

Nestled on the banks of the wide River Feshie is Ballintean Lodge, which for one week in early summer will be our home away from home and base from which we will explore the magnificent Cairngorms National Park and seek its wildlife.

The forests around the beautiful lodge are home to red squirrel, pine marten, badger, fox and deer. Osprey hunt along the river and nest at the nearby loch. Woodland birds including cuckoo and woodpecker are constant neighbours as they move through the characterful lichen-laden trees in the glen.

We will make the most of having this wealth of wildlife on our doorstep by using hides, camera traps and good old fashioned field craft to capture stunning photographs.

The trip also includes a visit to Chanonry Point to photograph the resident bottlenose dolphins. The week’s itinerary will be moulded around this event to ensure that we make use of the best tide times and weather conditions.

A short distance from the lodge is one of the best locations in the world to photograph hunting ospreys. As well as a fantastic photographic challenge, seeing this behaviour ranks as one of Britain’s top wildlife watching experiences.

A visit to Glenfeshie would not be complete without learning about the rewilding work that has been shaping the area for many years. Our short walk and talk through the glen is all that is needed to look differently at the landscape around us and inspire our landscape photography sessions as we frame up forests, lochs, rivers and mountains.

We look forward to sharing this rich and exciting corner of Britain with you.
